You know 'bout da Badger Ordnance Works, eh? It's a real doozy of a place. Some folks call it Da Powder Plant, or just Badger, built in Sauk Prairie right der by Devil's Lake State Park, as part of a bazillion-dollar program to get da boys ready fer World War II, can ya believe it? The Army acquired a whopping 10,565 acres of land, dat had housed dozens of farms, schools and such, eh, and turned into da largest munitions plant in da whole world, don't cha know! Workers at da plant, mostly women, would continue to make munitions for three conflicts, and they did it all with a smile on der face, ya know? Even Crazylegs Hirsch, star running back for da University, once worked at da factory's fire department. Der now turnin' dat place into a conservation and education area now, a real nice place fer hikin' and bird watchin'.
