Polka, polka, polka! We here 'n Wisconsin have been doin' da polka since before we's even a state. Central European immigrants from Slovenia brought der handmade "button box" accordions, Germans introduced da "oom-pah", da Polish showed us da tempo 'n da Czechs added da energy turnin' da place inta a literal polka palace! Now, Pulaski, Wisconsin, "Polka Town USA", a city wit more musicians per capita dan Nashville, dontcha know, had der furst Polka Day celebration way back 'n 1978, growin' it inta da largest 'n da country. Governor Tommy Thompson strategically picked Pulaski 'n 1994 ta declare polka da state dance 'n taday we's still goin' strong. Every April 21st we here 'n Wisconsin celebrate Wisconsin Polka Day 'n we even hold da world record fer da largest polka dance ever wit over 4,000 folks set back 'n 2024 'n Monroe!
